What I don't get is all these people who apparently expect him to be God. It took Bush 8 years to run this country into the ground! (8 years we gave him by the way) Obama has been our commander in chef for a little over a month. yes, our economy is still in the crapper! Yes, we are still in Iraq! No, we don't have marriage equality yet! No, DADT has not been over turned! Give the guy time to breath. He has just been given the task of running our entire screwed up country, let him at least pick out a dog before you expect him to wave his magic wand and pull billions of dollars out of his ass! I have actually been impressed with the progress he has made. He has already put a new stimulus plan in place, sorta kinda pined a date for pull out of Iraq, and been talking with officials about the repeal of DADT. And for those of you who are jumping the man for wanting to have a plan for DADT repeal, as a out and proud lesbian I say this, Shut the fuck up! Its more then any one else has ever done for us! Remember its a law people! Even the president does not have the power to repeal it just like that, there are channels for that kind of thing. We have a President not a King. A president that would like to be re-elected in 4 yeas. Personally I think having a plan in place for the inevitable social up roar over DADT's repeal is smart, and if it means that all those soldiers will have to wait a few more months or god for bid a year before they can pin a rainbow to there uniforms then so be it. Cut the guy some slack. If you think you could do it so much better then save up some doe and put your name on the ballet in 4 years. Till then sit down and shut up till we see what he can do!

Convicted Killers Chosen over Gays

It is no secret that the US army and The Marine Corps have been under pressure to raise their numbers because of the Iraq war, So, what have they been doing about it? Increasing the number of convicted felons into the ranks. The Army more than doubled its felon admittance, while the Marines admittance of convicted felons went up by 1/3. Most of the crimes related to the admittances where burglaries and drug offences, but several dozen involved aggravated assault and weapons charges. In addition 9 involved sex crimes, and 6 involved manslaughter.
While the armed forces are hurting so bad for troops they have to go picking through the slum, it does not stop them from discharging 2 people EVERY DAY for being gay or lesbian. In the 10 years that “don’t ask don’t tell” has been in place more then 10,000 personal have been discharged as a result; including 800 deemed “mission critical” such as pilots, combat engineers, and linguists. A study conducted last year indicated that the military could enlist 41,000 new recruits if they lifted the ban put in place by DADT but instead they prefer to let murders defend our great nations freedoms. I had been contacted through a website about my services as a nanny and asked to work a wedding the evening of April 26th. Once the “wedding planner” (went by the name of David Edward) and I agreed on a fee, he told me I would receive a check in the male shortly covering my costs. Later that week he Emailed me and told me there had been a complication with the check. He said the groom had miss understood and sent me a check for not only my expenses but also the money that was supposed to be for the wedding planner. He then asked if I would mind kindly depositing the check and whirring him his portion of the money so that he was able to pay the proper people. I said I would be happy to send him his portion of the money when I received the check, and I had every intention of doing so, until the check actually came. The check was mailed via UPS and I was forced to go an pick at a local office. Upon arriving I was told that my delivery was still out on the truck and that I would have to come back later, but as I was walking out the door a lady handed me a phone and said this is for you. Now who could be calling me at a UPS? It was there director of security. He promptly told me that he apologized for the dishonesty but they had the check in question but that there was a problem. It was a fake. My package had a rived along with a number of other fraudulent checks and so had been open and verified. They found it was made under a closed account. Upon my inspection of the check I noticed the hand writing did not match, the paper was incredibly thin, and the names and states on check, envelope, and initial Job inquiry where all different. I was grateful to UPS for being on the look out and headed directly to the Belleville Police Department to file a report.
Where did the time go when predators waited patiently on the sidelines for an unsuspecting customer to fall into there laps? No more folks, now they come to you. Well this one picked the wrong not so unsuspecting girl. There is a war going on people in case you hadn't heard, and it is with a Muslim nation! I know i just posted like a few hours ago but this got to me. Dutch Government Raises Terror Level Ahead Of Film Slamming Quran As Violent, Anti-Gay, Anti-Female I am not Muslim, I am not Christian, i am all for freedom of speech and slamming who ever and what ever you want, but tell me this: What goes threw your head when you decide it is a good idea to release a 15 min film all about the Qur'an being "'fascist' because it is used by extremists to incite violence and preaches oppression of women and gays."

First of all if your going to make a movie that's going to put you on the terrorist hot list why don't you get your facts strate! Why die for a bogus cause? The Qur'an is not the enemy any more then the Bible is. Extremists will take anything and turn it around to mean what ever they want it to, it does not make it true. There are people that believe the Bible says women are only meant to be wives but I have yet to find that passage. Any way all I am saying is if your going to use your freedom to be stupid maybe you don't deserve it!

Its Up to Michigan for Once and Florida Again

So we're coming up on the final stretches of the 2008 presidential primaries and the Democratic spot is still up for grabs. Clinton is trailing Obama by a slim margin and is looking to us for help. Clinton Won the Michigan and Florida primaries but the national party refuses to count our votes because we went against policy and held the elections early. Now that the election is so close both Michigan and Florida governors are teaming up to make sure there delegates are seated at the convention.

A compromise is being mulled over between the states and the national party. The thought of a do-over election is being purposed, where the out come would be honored. Both Clinton and Obama have said they would be willing to participate in the do over elections. Michigan's Governor Granholm is considering a kind of "firehouse" election instead of a traditional primary or caucus. The Firehouse election would have fewer polling stations and shorter voting hours, significantly cutting down on cost. Florida Governor Crist, says he would be willing to hold another primary but only if the Democratic national party foots the bill. Crist, says Florida tax payers should not have to pay for the Chance to have there votes counted again. the estimated cost for Florida to re hold their primary is $25 million.

Candidates for Gay rights?

Huckabee: On his final stretch of campaigning before the Christmas holiday, Huckabee underlined his lifelong opposition to abortion and gay marriage, issues that will likely drive many churchgoers to the Jan. 3 caucuses in Iowa. He spent Saturday traveling the western edge of Iowa, the most conservative part of the state, where Romney and another rival, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, campaigned late last week. "It's not because I don't like them," Huckabee said of gay people. "It's because I like even more the idea that the heart and soul, the essence of our civilization is in the family. It's not in the government. It's not even in some institution, not even the church. Before there was the church, and before there was government, there was family. "When you mess with the design, you end up messing with results," he added. "We can't afford to do that. That's why you will never hear me waver."

How does that make any cense? Has he ever taken a history class? If he is going to make reference to pre-Christian history someone should remind this guy that before the church declared it a sin homosexuality was not only excepted in most cultures but expected in some.

Bill Richardson: As Governor, Bill Richardson has expanded anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation, signed into law the state's first hate crimes legislation for acts including those based on sexual orientation, and provided state health insurance for domestic partnerships. He supports domestic partnerships and worked hard to secure them in New Mexico in a special session this year. His legislation failed by only one vote and he will fight for domestic partnerships again in the next legislative session.

He says he supports equal rights but yet he voted for the defense of marriage act. So what else has he lied about?

Barack Obama: “I was reminded that it is my obligation not only as an elected official in a pluralistic society, but also as a Christian, to remain open to the possibility that my unwillingness to support gay marriage is misguided,” Obama wrote in his recent memoir, The Audacity of Hope. On a recent interview he did come out in suport for cival unions in a underhand kind of way.

He ought to know, as a civil rights attorney, that granting LGBTQ Americans only the right to civil unions violates our full constitutional right. Not to mention the “Ex-gay” speaker he had at one of his fundraisers was in really poor tastes.

Rudy Giuliani: Rudy Giuliani believes marriage is between a man and a woman. He does not -- and has never -- supported gay marriage. But he believes in equal rights under law for all Americans. That's why he supports domestic partnerships that provide stability for committed partners in important legal and personal matters, while preserving the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.

Equil right but not equil marage… sound like theres a bit of confusion on the definition of the word Equil to me. He supported Gay rights in New York signing domestic partnerships into law but now he says he would not suport it on a federal leval. Is he sidestepping to get elected? I, for one, am not willing to take that chance no matter what he did in New York.

So is there any candidate who stands up for gay rights on every level with out sidestepping or compromising? Yes, one. Any body know who it is? No its not Hillary.

Mike Gravel: supports same-sex marriage and oppose both the Defense of Marriage Act and the military's 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' legislation. In his own words: (As to same-sex marriage:) “This country – and this world – needs more love. Love trumps morality, morality trumps politics.”

I could not have said it any better my self. To bad he is last in the pools and I have yet to find someone who has even heard of him. But that’s the way it goes I guess stand up firm for something rather than going with the flow and you get shot down. It would be cool if we could change the flow of things though don’t you think? They believed that Homosexuals were special beings sent by the gods to change social structure and move evolution forward. When you think about that, It must be true. Weather you like us or not you have to admit we have been a constant nagging force for change in the social order.

Its easy to think that the fight for equality is not going well, but if you look at history I would say we're doing OK. Are we where we need to be? No. Slowly but surely we're making progress, and although there have been set backs, I think we are on the winning side of the board. Look at the headlines and you can see the turning of the tides, stemming from the coming elections.

When Wisconsin passed the law adding the ban to gay marriage to its constitution, it hit me hard because all my mothers family lives there. I am there 3-4 times a year and often had thought about moving there if only to go to school. I was shocked that the law was passed by 59% of voters. Then I learned why. The vote was on two separate issues, gay marriage and the recognition of civil unions. I was happy to read today that a straight, christian, father of nine grandfather of seven was sewing the state over the question put to voters. the lawsuit states that the question was unconstitutional because under Wisconsin law voters can only be asked to vote on one question at a time and also claims that the amendment violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. The lawsuit was filed in June by University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh political science instructor William McConkey. The state tried to get the suit thrown out on the bases that McConkey suffered no harm and therefore did not have legal standing to sue, But the judge ruled that McConkeys rights as a voter could have been harmed by the way the question was put to voters. A trial date for the suite has not been set as of yet.

One of the largest hurtles for Gay right has to be Religion, but even leaders from that spectrum are starting to come around. The worldwide leader of the Anglican Church conducted a special mass for gay clergy and their partners in London on Thursday. Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, presided over Communion and then gave a sermon on "present realities and future possibilities for lesbians and gay men in the Church". The special service was conducted under the auspices of the Clergy Consultation , an LGBT support group, and was so secret that it was by invitation only and the guest list was shredded after the bishop has looked it over. Conservatives in the church were quick to condemn Williams, especially for offering communion to gay clergy, and several called for him to step down as leader but a spokesperson for the Archbishop dismissed the criticism. She said, "The Archbishop of Canterbury is committed to the listening process which was agreed at the Lambeth Conference [in 1998] as part of the discussions on human sexuality. That means listening to and engaging with gay and lesbian clergy in a pastorally sensitive setting,". Many of the conservatives are calling for a break from the church, especially those led by Nigerian Archbishop Peter Akinola. Akinola is calling for people of the church to break from Williams and aline with him.

It may not seem like much, a possible overturning of a constitutional ban in one state, or the possible support of a major religious leader of a smaller christian organization, but it all adds up to make the bigger picture. I make my production hear and now that before I die, homosexuals will have equal rights in the US, as much so as blacks do with whites today.

The best creation has to offer?

The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. My mother had surgery Friday morning (shes fine) and all went well. I was greatly impressed with the surgical staff, but the techs and nurses left something to be desired. first of all there was no one at the desk in the family waiting room, so we had to answer the phones ourselves if we wanted to know how are loved ones where. I know it was the day after thanksgiving, but come on. Wile My mother was in surgery not one nurse came to tell us how it was going through the 8 hour long procedure.
There was a group of people waiting for a lady to come out of a biopsy. they were told that it was definitely cancerous and she would be out of recovery. all this lady had requested before going under was that her husband ( a doctor in another hospital) be there when she woke up to tell her weather or not she had cancer. They would not permit him into the recovery room.
In the two days I stayed with my mom I only met one nurse who seemed to know what she was supposed to be doing. My mother had about 4 different nurses and 5 different techs in two days and I don't think one of them talk to the other. Each time there would be a shift change the new nurses and tech would each ask, what her diet was, how many times she had been out of bed, and weather or not her drains had been checked. my mother was on bed rest, was unable to keep down even water, and could hardly talk. I found it completely unnecessary for them to have to wake her up to ask her things she should not have to keep track of. Her sergen gave specific instructions for her not to use her stomach muscles, yet when the nurses came to get her into the chair, they left the work up to her. It took my asking them 3 times to get her pain meds changed, and they never once change her bandage that I was told needed to be changed once a day. In the end she could not wait to go home so I could manage all her care. ( which I was doing there any way it seemed.) Since we have been home, she has been in less pain, eaten more, and gotten more sleep then in the entire two days she was in the hospital.
I am not saying it was all bad. Her night nurse, Kelly i think, Was extremely caring. I think the problem was the lack of Passion from the other nurses about there job. Most of them seemed as if they would much rather be someplace else, and that is not an attitude you can take when you have a job like that.
The rooms were extremely nice but so big that it took the nurses twice as long to get to your room, and created a lack of personal attention that is desperately needed in a hospital setting. almost every one who knows me know I am defiantly not a UM fan, and now Saint Joe's is trying to hard to compete and becoming too much like them. Too big and arrogant to provide the care needed. I would still choose Saint Joe's over UM any day but I hope they realize soon that loosing there compassion is not worth a few extra beds.

Hate crimes bill stalled- Bush at it again

The stupidity of our nations president never ceases to amaze me. Just when you thin he cant possibly be any dumber he opens his mouth again. The federal hate crime bill may not make it now thanks to a house stall in getting it passed. The Bill would would add sexuality to a list that allows federal authorities to help investigate and prosecute crimes in which violence occurs based on certain things. The statute already includes race and religion. The bill was coupled with the 2008 defense authorization bill to avoid a Vito. It passed in September, and then went to conference where the two versions of it had to be combined for a final Vito. That's where it got stuck. The bill has been tied up with House fears that Democrats could not muster enough votes to pass the military bill with the Shepard Act attached to it. Things could be dragged out way passed December. Not wanting to wait to have the military bill passed, which would increase military pay and help wounded soldiers, not to mention be good for election year. The only way to end the stalling is to separate the two bills. The hate crimes bill could never survive a Vito on its own, the bush administration has said the Shepard Act is "unnecessary and constitutionally questionable." Yes, I am sure you could find lots of support from the constitution that says the protection of citizens from discrimination and harm is wrong, and sure as hell not necessary.

HIV donor crisis in Chicago

Federal officials are investigating in Chicago, what three hospitals knew and whether or not they told four organ transplant patients about a high-risk donor who infected them with HIV. There is a law that says even if the tests come back negative, a patients is to be informed of any rick factors known to the hospital regarding possible infection of the donor. Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, the place that gathered the organs, told authorities that the hospitals were informed of the donors high risk behaviors upon getting the organs. Weather or not the hospitals fallowed protocol and then informed the patients has not yet been confirmed. The hospitals refuse to release and statement of what the patients were told, what organs they received, or what other care they got siting confidentiality. one of the infected patients, a female in cook county, filed a petition to keep the university of Chicago and Gift of Hope from destroying any documents pertaining to the transplants. She received a kidney from the donor that infected her with HIV. The tests that were don't on the organs came back negative for the virus but experts say it is likely the donor got the disease a few weeks before he died making direction with the method used impossible. the other way of testing which can detect the virus sooner costs more and there for was not used. The female patient says she was never informed of the donors risk by the hospital only that the test was negative and every thing was fine. chef medical examiner of Chicago's public health says she hopes this instance will make the newer test become the norm, cost or not. this is the first time HIV has been passed through organ donation since 1986.

Happy Thanksgiving...

Bird Flu is back in the headlines this morning as thousands of turkeys were killed when they were discovered to have had the virus. Sure this was in Eastern England but it does not leave me to hopeful for a happy thanksgiving. Does any one know how many turkeys we get from out side the us? I don't either but why take the chance? Not that the bird flu is any major threat. Only 200 people have died from it since 2003, but I still don't want to get it. The people in England are not sure weather the birds had the kind that was deadly to humans or not, their still testing. The company that owned the farm was Gressingham Foods, I doubt they'll be getting a lot of business this year.
on a more local note a suprime cort judge ordered the white house to save all its E mails, and Bush is not happy about it. I chose to put it on my blog and use it to start a post. Does that shock you? probably not, but other things I have chosen might. I thought it would be interesting to make a list of some of the things I have chosen in my life and see how people respond to them. please comment and tell me what your reactions are, we'll find out together if Mr. Maurois is right. Yell at me if you want, preach, whatever, I don't get offended and really that's kind of the point of this. I want to get a rise, good or bad, but every thing on the list is true.

I chose to leave the Methodist church I grew up in for the Wiccan path.

once when I was little I chose to put my dog in the closet to see how long the air would last. (I lost attention in about 3 min so she was fine)

some would argue that I chose to be a lesbian.

I chose to drop out of college for trade school.

I chose an unstable major with no future that I can put my heart band soul in.

I chose acupuncture over a vicodin prescription.

I chose to get my belly button pierced.

I chose to move out on my own, them move back in with my mother, all for a horse.

when I was 14 I chose to shoplift for a friend.

I chose to drink Wisconsin old fashioned till I passed out last month. (I am legal to drink in Wisconsin)

I chose to be at my grandmothers side when she died, even though I missed all my finals.

I chose to take a friend to prom.

I chose never to go to a high school dance except prom.

I chose to quit playing volleyball because of politics.

I chose to be a vegetarian for health reasons, not moral.

I choose to flaunt my sexuality with rude T shirts and bumper-stickers.

I choose not to have a TV in my Apt.

I choose to have my air conditioning on all year round.

I choose to sleep naked.

I chose to post on the Internet that I sleep naked.

So there's my list, take it as it is. I'm not trying to say I have all the answers, but somethings are fact. (Fact: Proven with documentation; not left up to interpritation; certan.) So, I will place yet again in one more cornner of the web a list of Facts abotu Wicca that every one should know.

Wicca is a new religion. Created by a group of individuals headed by Gerald Gardner in 1939, Wicca is a religion pulled together using freemasonry and other aspects of the western occult tradition, including the writings of Margaret Murray, an early anthropologist.

Wicca is a "real" religion, and many institutions ranging from colleges to the US military recognize the right to practice it.

There is ONE all power represented by A Goddess and a God.

Wicca is an earth Religion.

Magick (note the spelling difference not to be confused with magic that is slight of hand) is an iatrical part of Wicca. Magick is simply the use of energy to create a desired affect.

You cant cast a spell to win a million dollars or make that certain someone one fall head over heals in love with you but magick can be a positive influence on your life.

That the basics for now I am sure I will be posting lots more on the subject later. I teach a class on Wicca that is open to any one with an Email address if your interestad.
